Of course, we need to point out that Macklemore has a way better track record than some of the other celebs named in that thread. He is a white rapper, yes, but he's used his position to interrogate cultural appropriation, releasing not one, but two tracks called 'White Privilege' (the second one directly calling out Miley Cyrus and Iggy Azalea for their offensive pantomiming of Black culture), and using his to call attention to the deaths of Trayvon Martin and other people of color who have died as the result of police violence and racial profiling. Macklemore may not be perfect, but he's shown a willingness to give credit to the culture that created his art form, and engaged with issues affecting the Black community, which is a huge step in the right direction.
